The Board

Alan Smith - Chairman of the Board

Alan is retired after a 25 year career in town planning within a number of local authorities across the country. His final post was as Head of Planning Services in Peterborough. Alan has recently completed a Masters degree in Public Service Management. He has worked for charities as a volunteer at home and abroad and continues this work in the local community in a number of areas. He was elected Chairman in November 2005.

Andrew Harmer - Treasurer

Andrew was appointed Treasurer in 2016. He is currently working with an early stage asset manager and also with a venture capitalist, holding the senior finance role in both enterprises. Chartered accountant - BSc (Eng), MBA, FCA - with over 20 years experience in senior finance and operational roles in a range of organisations including John Laing plc, Man Investments (Man Group plc), and C. Hoare & Co.

Dr Clea Harmer - Director  

Clea joined the board in 2015 and as Head of NCT College (NCT is the UK's largest charity for parents) Clea is responsible for ensuring that NCT College maintains its position as the centre of excellence for all those wishing to work with parents during the first 1,000 days, providing training opportunities, evidence-based information and support for both students and practitioners. Clea's background is in medicine, higher education and operational management. She has a real interest and passion in education and in parenting.

Tony Holden - Director & Trustee

Tony joined the board in 2015 from a background working in the voluntary sector. Tony was a director of Holden McAllister Ltd until his retirement. As an evaluator, Tony led the evaluation of the Middlesbrough Families Project and the Norwich Families Intervention Project. He also led the evaluations of the Hull Children's Fund, the North East Lincolnshire Children's Fund and the East Riding of Yorkshire Children's Fund. He has co-authored the Home Office publications on the role of education in enhancing life chances and preventing offending.

Manish Nanda - Director & Trustee

Manish joined the Link to Change Board in 2015. He has a background in criminal justice, substance misuse dual diagnosis and community care. He is currently the Director of Development at Westminster Drugs Project, a substance misuse charity based in London and across the South East. Prior to leading on WDP's organisational development, Manish held a variety of roles in service delivery, both client facing and operational management.

Emma Hardy - Director & Trustee

Emma Hardy is Director of External Relations at the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). The IWF works internationally to identify and remove online child sexual abuse images and videos. She is responsible for the media relations, digital communications and marketing functions as well as the membership team. She engages with stakeholders in IT companies, government, and the online safety sector.

Emma previously worked as a journalist, before taking internal and external comms roles at Cambridgeshire Constabulary, and in a district council.

She has a Multi-Media Journalism degree, is a qualified senior reporter and holds a Public Relations Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), where she is an Accredited Member
